Campanone is a zarzuela, or Spanish operetta, in three acts that draws on the melodies of Giuseppe Mazza's Italian opera 'La Prova d'un Opera Seria'. This adaptation, by Aquiles Difranco and Carlos Frontaura y Vázquez, brings a uniquely Spanish sensibility to an Italian classic, resulting in a work that is both familiar and fresh.
