Randolph Carter dreams three times of a majestic sunset city, but each time he is abruptly snatched away before he can see it up close. When he prays to the gods of dream to reveal the whereabouts of the phantasmal city, they do not answer, and his dreams of the city stop altogether. Undaunted, Carter resolves to go to Kadath, where the gods live, to beseech them in person. However, no one has ever been to Kadath and no one even knows how to get there. In dream, Randolph Carter descends "seventy steps" and speaks of his plan to the priests Nasht and Kaman-Thah, whose temple - the Cavern of Flame - borders the Dreamlands. The priests warn Carter of the great danger of his quest and suggest that the gods withdrew his vision of the city on purpose.
Return to the final days of the Dyer expedition in the remote Antarctic wastes. The letters from expedition leader Professor William Dyer grow increasingly more desperate as the expedition presses on, leaving sanity behind them. What they discover beneath the ice is meant for no living man to see, Cyclopean structures and alien landscapes that defy history itself. The final act of the Dyer Expedition is a descent into cosmic horror and utter madness. H.P. Lovecraft's At the Mountains of Madness, first published in 1936, is one of the greatest classics of American horror literature. The most ambitious story Lovecraft ever wrote, it has served as a source of inspiration for filmmakers and authors in the decades since his death. This is the second volume of two. François Baranger, an illustrator with experience working in both the film and gaming industries, was fascinated early on by Lovecraft's creatures and visions which populated the darkest recesses of fantasy. Having previously illustrated The Call of Cthulhu to great acclaim, this book is his most ambitious creation so far.
An extensively annotated anthology of twenty-two of the horror master's best writings also examines Lovecraft's rise and accomplishments against a backdrop of the pulp fiction era while evaluating his influence on literature

Weird and Horrific Stories (2021) gathers some of H. P. Lovecraft’s early masterpieces, showcasing his status as a premier writer of horror and weird fiction. Much of his work appeared in pulp magazines like Argosy and Weird Tales, making it challenging for readers to find comprehensive collections. This anthology aims to connect contemporary audiences with Lovecraft’s most chilling tales. Among the stories is “The Alchemist,” written in 1908 and published in 1916, which follows Count Antoine, cursed along with his ancestors after slaying a dark wizard. Each male in his lineage dies at thirty-two, an age he is rapidly approaching, prompting him to seek a way to end the curse. “Dagon,” published in 1919, recounts the harrowing experience of a morphine-addicted survivor of a World War I shipwreck. Another notable tale, “The Cats of Ulthar,” from 1920, details the grim legal history of a town plagued by a couple notorious for their cruelty towards cats. This collection features over thirty stories from the peak of Lovecraft’s career, presented with a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, making it a classic work of American horror reimagined for today’s readers.
More weirdly creepy and unnerving tales to unsettle any reader. Lovecraft reinvented the horror genre in the twentieth century, discarding ghosts and witches and instead envisioning mankind as a tiny outpost of dwindling sanity in a chaotic and malevolent universe.

This complete collection of strange and unusual stories from H. P. Lovecraft features an array of dark and supernatural themes. Forbidden, esoterically veiled knowledge is at the forefront of many of Lovecraft's works, as well as non-human influences on humanity, inherited guilt, fate, civilization under threat, race, risks of a scientific era, religion, and superstition. Many of Lovecraft's stories were inspired by his nightmares. His interest in the supernatural started during his childhood days when his grandfather would tell him Gothic horror stories. In 1913, he wrote a critical letter to a pulp magazine that ultimately led to his involvement in pulp fiction. During the interwar period, he wrote and published stories that focused on his interpretation of humanity's place in the universe. In his view, humanity was an unimportant part of an uncaring cosmos that could be swept away at any moment. These stories also included fantastic elements that represented the perceived fragility of anthropocentrism.

Lovecraft died in March 1937, he left a legacy of work that has since influenced countless generations of writers and filmmakers and which has seen him hailed as a master of horror and fantasy fiction. And Other Stories
Deadly forces are about to be awakened ... In the degenerate, unliked backwater of Dunwich, Wilbur Whately, a most unusual child, is born. Of unnatural parentage, he grows at an uncanny pace to an unsettling height, but the boy's arrival simply precedes that of a true horror: one of the Old Ones, that forces the people of the town to hole up by night, fearful for their lives, by day able only to trace the wreckage wrought by the gigantic, unseen monster. In this and other tales of the macabre, H. P. Lovecraft weaves unearthly fantasies of creatures beyond conception - existing between the spaces of the dimensions we know
H. P. Lovecraft's Fungi from Yuggoth is a remarkable achievement. Written in little more than a week (December 27, 1929-January 4, 1930), the cycle of 36 sonnets is a compact encapsulation of the essence of Lovecraft's imaginative vision. Its central motifs-the lure of hidden worlds, cosmic alienation, the terrors lurking behind the placid surface of life-are those that structured Lovecraft's greatest weird tales. David E. Schultz has spent decades preparing this annotated edition of the Fungi. He discusses the origin of the poem (including the influence of Donald Wandrei's similar cycle, Sonnets of the Midnight Hours), its connections with Lovecraft's fiction, Lovecraft's changing thoughts on natural expression in poetry, and the complex history of the poem's publication-both as individual sonnets and as a unity. Schultz also provides penetrating annotations on every poem. Förlagstext

One of the masters of 'weird fiction', H. P. Lovecraft expanded the vast boundaries of the horror genre with his vividly imagined stories of exotic and fantastical otherworlds, nightmarish dreamscapes or the supernatural terrors lurking beneath the surface of small-town America. The shadow of New England's witch-hunting past hangs over many of the tales, as in 'The Shunned House' and 'The Dreams in the Witch House', in which malevolent spectres return to haunt the region. Others, such as 'From Beyond' and 'The Shadow Out of Time', depict the catastrophic results when cosmic channels of time and space are opened, while stories such as 'Polaris' and 'The Doom that Came to Sarnath' portray the downfall of mythical civilizations.

And who better to reanimate than those two legendary titans gone before their time—Biggie and Tupac? Hilarity and carnage ensue.

H. P. Lovecraft (1890-1937) was a reclusive scribbler of horror stories for the American pulp magazines that specialized in Gothic and science fiction in the interwar years. He often published in Weird Tales and has since become the key figure in the slippery genre of "weird fiction." Lovecraft developed an extraordinary vision of feeble men driven to the edge of sanity by glimpses of malign beings that have survived from human prehistory or by malevolent extra-terrestrial visitations. The ornate language of his stories builds towards grotesque moments of revelation, quite unlike any other writer. This new selection brings together nine of his classic tales, focusing on the "Cthulhu Mythos," a cycle of stories that develops the mythology of the Old Ones, the monstrous creatures who predate human life on earth. It includes the Introduction from Lovecraft's critical essay, "Supernatural Horror in Literature," in which he gave his own important definition of "weird fiction." In a fascinating contextual introduction, Roger Luckhurst gives Lovecraft the attention he deserves as a writer who used pulp fiction to explore a remarkable philosophy that shockingly dethrones the mastery of man.
