Maggiori informazioni sul libro
Draughtsman, painter and etcher, Isaac de Moucheron (1667-1744) was a revered Dutch landscapist from Amsterdam. He specialized not only in topographical views (of sites and garden layouts) but also in the creation of Arcadian scenes and fantasy garden vistas. These he executed in monochrome and coloured inks on paper a well as in oils on canvases of both small and monumental sizes. Connoisseurs collected his cabinet works while patrons commissioned large-scale paintings inserted in the wainscotting of their drawing-rooms. A type of decoration which became popular during the second half of the seventeenth century, flourished throughout the eighteenth and was Isaac's main sphere of activity. He is also remembered for his fine etchings reproducing the gardens at Heemstede, decorative panels and paintings by Gaspard Dughet, a precursor that profoundly influenced Isaac's conception of the art of landscape painting.
