Politics in Performance examines Edward Bond's directorial process and covers six professional productions of his The Woman (National Theatre, 1978); The Worlds (Newcastle & Royal Court, 1979); Restoration (Royal Court, 1981); Summer (National Theatre, 1982); The War Plays (RSC, 1985) and Jackets (Lancaster & Bush, London, 1989/90). Reconstruction of the rehearsals and productions comes through interviews with Bond and with the actors and designers involved in the process.
