Text, speech and dialogue

Maggiori informazioni sul libro

The TSD Conference 2002 marks its fifth iteration, establishing itself as a significant international forum that integrates key fields of NLP. We hope this conference fosters better understanding and cooperation among researchers from diverse areas. Historically, communication between humans and computers has been one-sided; humans must learn how machines operate to interact with them. However, our comprehension of how these "user-friendly" computers understand human input remains limited, indicating that much work lies ahead. TSD 2002 aims to contribute to bridging this gap. Additionally, the conference facilitates connections among NLP researchers from both Western and Eastern Europe, with participants from around the globe, making TSD a true crossroads for the NLP community. This volume includes the proceedings from the conference held in Brno, September 9–12, 2002. We were privileged to feature keynote speakers James Pustejovsky from Brandeis University and Ronald Cole from the University of Colorado. Our gratitude extends to the Program Committee members and external reviewers for their dedicated efforts in the review process.
