Maggiori informazioni sul libro

Digital manipulation of landform is transforming the design and construction of our built environment. This advancement stems from the intersection of geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-aided geometric modeling (CAD). GIS provides spatial attribute representations of digital terrain, such as Triangulated Irregular Networks and contour lines, while CAD focuses on the parameterization and combination of geometric primitives. The integration of these disciplines, along with innovations in surveying and navigation technologies like global positioning systems (GPS), is creating powerful new functionalities. There is a clear need for a platform where these traditionally separate fields can collaborate. The proceedings include technical papers presented at the First International Symposium on Digital Earth Moving, held from September 5-7, 2001, at the CIM Institute for Computing Science and Industrial Technologies of the University of Applied Science of Southern Switzerland in Manno (Lugano). This volume is the first dedicated to this specific theme, featuring thirteen select papers and posters from a total of thirty-six submissions received from fifteen countries, showcasing the latest advancements in this evolving field.
