The 11th Australasian Conference on Information Security and Privacy (ACISP 2006) took place in Melbourne from July 3-5, 2006, sponsored by Deakin University and the Research Network for a Secure Australia, in collaboration with the University of Wollongong. This event gathered researchers, practitioners, and users from academia, industry, and government. The program featured 35 papers addressing crucial aspects of information security technologies, selected from 133 submissions through a rigorous two-stage anonymous review process. Each submission underwent at least three reviews by Program Committee members, followed by a comprehensive committee discussion over two weeks. Among the submissions, 19 papers were nominated for the “best student paper” award, which was ultimately awarded to Yang Cui from the University of Tokyo for the paper “Tag-KEM from Set Partial Domain One-Way Permutations.” In addition to the regular papers, the program included three invited talks: Bart Preneel discussed “Electronic Identity Cards: Threats and Opportunities,” and Mike Burmester presented “Towards Provable Security for Ubiquitous Applications.” The details of the third talk were not finalized by the time of publication. We extend our gratitude to all authors for their high-quality submissions, which made the selection process challenging.
