The purpose of the 216th PTB Seminar, a workshop on „Alanine Dosimetry for Clinical Applications“, was to provide a platform for an intensive exchange of information between the experts in the field. The meeting was held on the site of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig on May 8th and 9th, 2006. There were 25 participants from 12 different countries, mainly from National Laboratories, but also from hospitals, radiation protection authorities and industry. On two entire days, a wide range of subjects was covered, from dosemeter preparation techniques, measurement, analysis and calibration schemes to applications at the hospital. Challenges, perspectives and „to dos“ were the subject of active discussions, either subsequent to a presentation or at the end of the meeting.
