Maggiori informazioni sul libro

This book adopts a phenomenological approach to knowledge, focusing on understanding the world through immediate phenomena. As sciences increasingly rely on computer-based instruction, the disconnect between knowing and experiential understanding raises important questions. In academia, it may seem that nothing is lost when knowledge is separated from experience, yet researchers often emphasize the necessity of hands-on apprenticeship before newcomers can effectively engage with manuals. While practice demands perceptual experience, theoretical frameworks often overlook the insights that only experience can provide. The authors explore three key aspects of experience. First, they examine the mental activity involved in attending to a specific phenomenon, which enables understanding and selection for consideration. Second, they discuss the aesthetic organization of phenomena, emphasizing that they are unified wholes rather than mere collections of parts, with this recognition being an aesthetic endeavor. Lastly, they investigate how experience motivates individuals, highlighting that moral responsibility must be rooted in the meaning derived from personal experiences. This understanding is challenging when one is focused solely on abstract, universal laws, neglecting the particular events that shape individual lives.
