The final microstructures of materials are often obtained by transformation in the solid state. A tight control of the relevant processes is vital for a material with optimal properties, and thus for the efficient large-scale production of industrial components. In this book, based on the recent EUROMAT symposium, the most important phenomena will be treated and new directions of research outlined.
