at night - for baroque transverse flute This piece follows the traditional style of an Nocturne, an obituary of the day, an echo. By using the particularities of the transverse flute, this piece creates its very own character. The different fingerings in order to achieve the slight enharmonic differences in tempering, are absolutely crucial for this piece. Multiple playing techniques such as flattement, tongue pizzicato, fluctuation-tones and the possibility to hold tones extremely long are used. The instrument of choice should be a four-part transverse flute with one key, like for example G. A Rottenburgh, J.W. Oberlender, Buffardin Le Fils, J. Denner, G. Castel or similar, also with a fingeringchart from J. J. Quantz.
