Paul Fosse (1884-1959) was responsible for choosing and performing the music to more than 1500 silent movies between 1911 and 1928. He personally compiled the music to be played in Paris's Gaumont-Palace, the largest cinema in the world. This is the world's largest and most significant source for music in the age of silent films.
