Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) is one of the most ancient human food sources. From an economic point of view, yield of cowpea is low because crop is infected by a number of viruses, fungi and bacteria. Among these, viral pathogens have become major constraints for the production of cowpea. The genus Potyvirus of the family Potyviridae represents the most important and largest genus of plant viruses. Bean common mosaic virus strain blackeye cowpea mosaic (BCMV-BlCM) is one of the economically important seed-borne virus, as it causes severe yield loss in cowpea. In this book we have focused on research pertaining to Bean common mosaic virus strain black eye cowpea mosaic of cowpea and future prospects.
