Set against the backdrop of love and tradition, a Duke contemplates marriage as he seeks a wife from three former mistresses, chosen by his son. The ritual involves offering an apple to the selected one, but the arrival of the spirited Perpetua disrupts his plans. When she shatters the apple with a pistol, it complicates the Duke's decision.
