Set against the backdrop of World War I, the narrative explores Persia's strategic significance between major empires. In 1914, Britain dispatched forces to secure Persian oil fields from Turkish control, leading to German attempts to incite Islamic Jihad. The capture of German agents thwarted these plans, and conflicts between Russia and Turkey spilled into Persia. Following the Russian Revolution, Britain sent Dunsterforce to bolster local resistance, ultimately preventing Turkish access to crucial oil resources until the war's end.
