Rumi (1207-1273) has been described by Prof E.G. Brown as "without doubt the most eminent Sufi poet whom Persia has produced". Prof R. Nicholson calls him as "the greatest mystical poet of any age". German poet Hans Meinke saw in Rumi "the only hope for the dark times we are living in".
