    Una dolente, umanissima coppia di detective: l'investigatore Stubo e la criminologa Vik. Lui, che ha appena perso moglie e figlia in uno stupido incidente, sa che l'unico modo per venire a capo del caso dei bambini rapiti è convincere Vik a partecipare alle indagini. Lei non ne ha proprio voglia, ma non può restare indifferente di fronte al crescente orrore, e alla fine accetta. Tempo da perdere proprio non ce n'è, almeno finché c'è una speranza. Il primo di una serie di thriller investigativi caratterizzato da una sottigliezza psicologica degna delle "grandi" del giallo inglese, dal gusto per la precisione e il respiro romanzesco, che alterna i colpi di scena a una comprensione profonda e pietosa della natura umana.
