What is required to renew and articulate public spaces? The need for, and demands of, public spaces are highly specific to the local spatial and social conditions under which people live. Action at neighborhood level is crucial, and must involve interacting and co-creating with residents to discover their needs. At the start of the pandemic, superwien was commissioned to develop innovative designs for urban public spaces in three different cities: Dhaka (Bangladesh), Maputo (Mozambique), and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). The main objective of this applied research was to strengthen the capacity of local governments to undertake participatory urban design processes. This book calls upon architects and urbanists to develop place-based solutions in challenging circumstances.

Latin America and the Caribbean constitute the second-most urbanized region in the world, with many cities still growing exponentially. Long-term strategies need to be developed to meet the resulting challenges. How can growing cities be planned without neglecting their urbanity? How can urban spatial growth be managed in tandem with social, environmental, cultural, and economic challenges? Between 2013 and 2018, the Urban Design Lab worked in over twenty emerging cities in Latin America and the Caribbean. They developed dynamic planning tools that trigger transformative urban processes by engaging and empowering local communities. This handbook not only explains the context and emerging problems faced by the cities of Latin America and the Caribbean, but also proposes solutions for typical difficulties encountered within those urban conglomerations.

Die Studie präsentiert eine neuartige Schaltung, die die Konstruktion von Hochvolt-Operationsverstärkern erleichtert und kostengünstig gestaltet. Dabei werden sowohl Silizium-basierte als auch Galliumnitrid-Bauteile für die Endstufe verwendet. Diese Innovation zielt darauf ab, die Herausforderungen zu überwinden, die mit herkömmlichen hybriden Operationsverstärkern verbunden sind, insbesondere hinsichtlich Hochfrequenzverhalten, Ausgangsspannung und Ausgangsstrom.

Ce volume rassemble 24 études en français et en allemand sur la naissance et le développement du théâtre national allemand au XVIIIe siècle. Initialement publiées dans des revues ou des ouvrages collectifs, ces études sont désormais accessibles sous une forme révisée. La première partie se concentre sur l’histoire théâtrale, abordant la réforme de Gottsched, la recherche d’un nouveau public, la naissance de la critique théâtrale, ainsi que les relations entre l’Église, le théâtre, les comédiens et les spectateurs. La seconde partie examine la relation entre les cultures française et allemande en matière de théorie dramatique et d’art de l’acteur, tout en analysant l’impact de la guerre de Sept Ans sur la production dramatique. Enfin, la troisième partie analyse des œuvres représentatives de la période allant de Lessing à Schiller et Goethe, qui ont établi les bases du premier répertoire littéraire exigeant du théâtre professionnel de langue allemande nouvellement créé. Ces contributions offrent une perspective enrichissante sur l'évolution du théâtre allemand à une époque charnière.

Johann Wolfgang Goethe (1749-1832), le plus illustre des écrivains allemands, pratiqua tous les genres : lyrisme, théâtre, roman. Mais il fut aussi un théoricien de l'art, se voulut homme de sciences et exerça d'importantes fonctions administratives et politiques. Son roman "Les Souffrances du jeune Werther" fut le premier grand succès européen de la jeune littérature allemande, son drame Faust contribua à l'essor du mythe, mais une partie importante de son oeuvre reste à découvrir. Immense et protéiforme, elle trouve son unité secrète dans l'analyse lucide de la modernité menée par un homme qui a intensément vécu les problèmes de son époque et observé avec une attention inquiète l'émergence de l'individu. Elle n'a donc rien perdu de son actualité.
