The anthology features eight studies, some derived from academic theses at Cologne University. The contributions explore various aspects of prehistoric settlement structures and material culture. Topics include the settlement structure of the Flomborn period on the Aldenhoven Plain, the Linear Pottery cemetery at Niedermerz 3 and its context within the central Merzbach valley settlement group, and stone inventories from the Linear Pottery sites at Niedermerz 4 and Langweiler 3. Additionally, the early Middle Neolithic is examined through stone artefacts from Langweiler 10, Hambach 260, and Langweiler 12. The studies also analyze the stone inventories of Rössen settlements at Aldenhoven 1 and Inden 1, as well as the siliceous materials associated with the Rössen Culture in the Rhenish Brown Coalfield. Furthermore, the anthology addresses production processes and the division of labour based on rock implement inventories from Rössen settlements. Lastly, it discusses the later Linear Pottery, the early Middle Neolithic, and the Rössen Culture in the Rhenish Brown Coalfield, focusing on stone artefacts as reflections of a changing world.
