This study enhances transparency in the acquisition of business services, particularly in the DACH region, offering unprecedented insights. It addresses ten major areas, comparing them to goods purchasing and the typical procedures used in professional purchasing organizations. The analysis highlights the need for a distinct approach to business services, emphasizing the importance of an individual service strategy, appropriate evaluation methods, and the incorporation of social factors for successful purchasing. Additionally, regulations governing goods and services are expected to increase, necessitating a deeper knowledge base for purchasers, particularly in value-adding business services. Firms must invest in their purchasing teams to maintain high levels of expertise. Conversely, automation will rise for non-value-adding processes, leading to a more streamlined acquisition of goods and services. To navigate these conflicting priorities, companies must develop comprehensive and competitive strategies for purchasing business services. This study serves as a foundation for ongoing improvement and enhancement in this area.
