    Zhu Xi fu una figura di spicco della Scuola dei Principi e il filosofo neoconfuciano più influente della Cina. La sua opera, che enfatizza l'indagine delle cose e la sintesi di tutti i concetti confuciani fondamentali, ha plasmato la burocrazia e la governance cinese per oltre 700 anni. Zhu Xi attribuì un significato speciale ai Quattro Libri, che divennero fondamentali per l'educazione e il pensiero cinese.
