Ivo von Renner (b. Hamburg, 1949; lives in Hamburg, works around the world) is best known as the creator of iconic advertising photographs for campaigns by VW, TriumphAdler, and Pernod. With To You from Afar, the photographer, artist, and traveler now presents a very personal book. More than two hundred postcards he wrote to his family over the past three decades add up to a moving portrait of the comforts of home as well as the lure of distant lands. Das Buch zeigt eine Auswahl von Fotos des bekannten Fotografen Ivo von Renner, die im Zuge eines künstlerischen Gemeinschaftsprojektes mit dem Weimarer Architekten Christian Meyer-Landrut entstanden sind. Ivo von Renners Bilder sind dabei so künstlich wie die Arbeits- und Lebenswelten, die sie zeigen. Ihre surreale Qualität entsteht aus der Spannung zwischen gesellschaftlichen Fehlentwicklungen wie Entfremdung, Maskierung, Verdrängung oder Maßlosigkeit auf der einen Seite und dem, was im Kontrast dazu vernünftig und menschengerecht wäre.
