The number of bilingual families is growing and, with the increasing number of people living and working abroad, there are more parents who have to decide whether to bring their children up to speak two languages. Drawing on real-life experiences based on over 70 interviews, this book shows the decisions to be made and the problems faced by parents who raise their children in a bilingual home environment, but who want to ensure that their child does well at school and socially. It enables parents to compare their own experiences with those of other parents who have already brought up their children in this way and will also help new parents to make up their minds as to which language(s) they want to teach their children.
