Following the pandemic, teachers reported a range of challenges related to student engagement, student behaviors, increased job responsibilities, poor teacher pay, and lack of administrative support. The increased demands for closing achievement gaps and monitoring the emotional well-being of students made it overwhelming for teachers to balance their personal and professional responsibilities. These challenges are perceived to be more severe in schools serving high poverty and high minority populations. As a result, teachers' stress levels and burnout have increased, leading to an increase in teacher turnover. Creating Safe Spaces for Employees explores how employers can use emotional intelligence at work as a guide for building emotionally healthy workplaces. The storyline takes place in an educational environment, but the narrative could include any working space around the globe where people gather to work.
