The study investigates the impact of captioned versus uncaptioned videos on listening skills among L2-German learners over a semester. Two groups experienced alternating exposure to both types of videos, followed by a series of tests assessing speech segmentation, word recognition, and listening comprehension. Additional evaluations included proficiency, reading efficiency, learning styles, working memory, and eye-tracking of caption reading behaviors. Surveys and interviews gathered participants' perceptions, yielding significant insights for language educators and independent learners.
