L'ingenuo Gallo si trova così presto preso dalla frenesia degli affari, rapito dal miraggio di diventare "l'uomo più ricco e influente del villaggio": si immerge nel lavoro nella sua cava, smette di frequentare Asterix e Idefix e di andare a caccia di cinghiali, e assume anzi a sua volta aiutanti e cacciatori che gli procurano il cibo. Gli ingenti guadagni gli consentono di atteggiarsi a gran ricco, suscitando l'invidia degli abitanti del villaggio che decidono di commerciare a propria volta i menhir. In breve tempo il pacifico villaggio cambia così drasticamente volto, "metà degli abitanti va a caccia di cinghiali per conto dell'altra metà che produce menhir". Gli unici a restare fuori dalla follia collettiva sono Asterix e Panoramix. Assurdus, dal canto suo, inizia a cantare vittoria: gli abitanti del villaggio sono troppo presi dalla produzione di menhir per combattere con le guarnigioni romane. Il giovane, dopo aver dato ordine al centurione di Babaorum di continuare a comprare menhir a prezzi sempre più alti, torna quindi a Roma e dà il via a una vera e propria campagna marketing per vendere a Roma gli ingombranti monoliti.     Au village, l'agitation règne : Assurancetourix a décidé de participer au célèbre concours de chant des bardes gaulois pour remporter le menhir d'or. Pour le protéger dans cette compétition suivie de près par les romains, Astérix et Obélix sont chargés de l'accompagner : ils ne doivent pas quitter Assurancetourix des yeux ; quitte à y perdre une oreille ! Vendue pour la première fois sous la forme d'un livre-disque en 1967, Le Menhir d'or est devenue quasiment introuvable et n'a jamais été publiée en album. Cette histoire écrite avec la truculence de René Goscinny pour un enregistrement audio et illustrée pour le livret accompagnant le disque avec le génie graphique d'Albert Uderzo est un petit bijou à redécouvrir. Elle méritait d'être mise en valeur en rejoignant aujourd'hui la collection des albums illustrés d'Astérix aux côtés de Comment Obélix est tombé dans la Marmite de Potion Magique... , Les 12 Travaux d'Astérix et Le Secret de la Potion Magique.     Dieses illustrierte Bilderbuch ist eine kleine Sensation: Es handelt sich um ein Asterix-Abenteuer von 1967 mit Texten von René Goscinny und Zeichnungen von Albert Uderzo, das bisher noch nie als Buch veröffentlicht wurde! Das ganze Dorf ist in Aufruhr: Troubadix hat beschlossen, am legendären Gesangswettbewerb für die Barden Galliens teilzunehmen. Der Gewinner des Wettbewerbs wird traditionell mit dem goldenen Hinkelstein ausgezeichnet. Weil auch die Römer großes Interesse an diesem Wettbewerb haben, werden Asterix und Obelix beauftragt, Troubadix zu seinem Schutz begleiten. Sie dürfen ihm nicht von der Seite weichen – koste es, was es wolle! Dieses einzigartige Abenteuer, bei dem es sich nicht um einen Comic handelt, wurde 1967 in Frankreich als Schallplatte mit Begleitheft veröffentlicht, jedoch niemals als Album und noch nie in deutscher Sprache! Für heutige Leser hat die Geschichte echten Seltenheitswert: Die Story ist von René Goscinny mit dem für ihn typischen Witz und Esprit verfasst, die Zeichnungen tragen den meisterhaften und unverwechselbaren Pinselstrich Albert Uderzos. Ende 2019 wurden die Zeichnungen, die Albert Uderzo 1967 zur Untermalung des genialen Szenarios seines Freundes anfertigte, von Uderzos treuesten Mitarbeitern und noch unter Aufsicht des im März 2020 verstorbenen Maestros höchstselbst restauriert.
