    • ICIAR 2005, the International Conference on Image Analysis and Recognition, was the second ICIAR conference, and was held in Toronto, Canada. ICIAR is organized annually, and alternates between Europe and North America. ICIAR 2004 was held in Porto, Portugal. The idea of o? ering these conferences came as a result of discussion between researchers in Portugal and Canada to encourage collaboration and exchange, mainly between these two countries, but also with the open participation of other countries, addressing recent advances in theory, methodology and applications. TheresponsetothecallforpapersforICIAR2005wasencouraging. From295 full papers submitted, 153 were ? nally accepted (80 oral presentations, and 73 posters). The review process was carried out by the Program Committee m- bersandotherreviewers; allareexpertsinvariousimageanalysisandrecognition areas. Each paper was reviewed by at least two reviewers, and also checked by the conference co-chairs. The high quality of the papers in these proceedings is attributed ? rst to the authors, and second to the quality of the reviews provided by the experts. We would like to thank the authors for responding to our call, andwewholeheartedlythankthe reviewersfor theirexcellentwork, andfortheir timely response. It is this collective e? ort that resulted in the strong conference program and high-quality proceedings in your hands.

Plant Galls Induction in St. Katherine Protectorate

      • 104pagine
      • 4 ore di lettura

Focusing on the ecological dynamics of plant galls, this study investigates their induction in the Saint Katherine Protectorate of South Sinai over a year. It identifies 223 records of galls across ten plant species from eight families, highlighting the varied susceptibility of different plant parts to gall formation. The research underscores the significance of local flora in understanding plant-gall interactions in this crucial Egyptian region.

    • Focusing on the crucial role of offshore wind farms in the renewable energy transition, the book explores the significant impacts of climate change on these energy sources. It details how rising global temperatures, increasing sea levels, and the frequency of extreme weather events will affect wind speed, wave height, and sea ice. Predictions indicate that a 3-degree Celsius rise could lead to a notable increase in severe wave activity, particularly in the southern hemisphere and northern Pacific, highlighting the urgent need for adaptive strategies in this sector.

    • This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Autonomous and Intelligent Systems, AIS 2011, held in Burnaby, BC, Canada, in June 2011, colocated with the International Conference on Image Analysis and Recognition, IACIAR 2011. The 40 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 62 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on autonomous and intelligent systems, intelligent and advanced control systems, intelligent sensing and data analysis, human-machine interaction, and intelligent circuit analysis and signal processing.
