The story follows Randell Jones, a typical teenager who discovers he is a werewolf while navigating the challenges of love, family, and adventure. As he travels from Odessa, TX to Abercromie, ND, Randell faces a werewolf hunter and the complexities of belonging to a pack. Through exposure and heartbreak, he learns about his inner strength and resilience. The narrative explores themes of identity and the struggles of adolescence, ultimately questioning whether Randell can overcome the trials life presents.

Cette thèse a pour objet l’étude des recueils de nouvelles de Pierre Mertens, écrivain belge, dont l’œuvre s’inscrit dans la littérature-monde en français. Dans l’hypothèse avancée, il s’agit de démontrer que, bien que l’intrigue s’estompe, de multiples réalités sont représentées. Celles-ci se rattachent à l’originel et à la vie au 20e siècle, les fragments rassemblés reconstruisent le monde et visent sa totalité. Les domaines de la poétique de la nouvelle et une distinction narratologique (dits et non-dits) forment la charpente de la table des matières, les philosophies de l’existence soutiennent l’herméneutique existentielle. La découverte des structures complémentaires et des contenus témoignent du dialogue étroit entre les nouvelles qui sont à l’image de la valise à double fond.
