Georges Darien, born Georges Hippolyte Adrien (1862-1921), was a French writer with anarchist tendencies. His work, which includes novels, plays, and contributions to literary magazines, is characterized by themes of revolt and disgust. After his death, he was forgotten until the reissue of "Le Voleur" and "Bas les Coeurs!". From 1891 to 1897, he disappeared, traveling through Belgium, Germany, and particularly London, where he returned with the manuscript of his novel "Le Voleur". In addition to his novels, Darien was the most virulent pamphleteer of the end of the century, collaborating with several anarchist journals, including "L'Escarmouche," "L'Ennemi du Peuple," and "L'En Dehors," where he mingled with Zo d'Axa. Other works include "L'Epaulette: Souvenirs d'un Officier" (1901), "Biribi: Discipline Militaire" (1906), and "Les Vrais Sous-Offs" (with Edouard Dubus, 1864-1921).
