Älteste, bis heute überlieferte Schriften der Hebräer, Babylonier und anderer Urvölker werden verglichen um Ursprünge und Alter astronomischer Kenntnisse zu bestimmen. Einige biblische Erzählungen, allgemein als "Wunder" überliefert , werden genauer untersucht und mit astronomischen und geographischen Kenntnissen erklärbar.
