Die Ethnographie untersucht die Lebensweise der repentistas, die durch improvisierte Poesie ihre sozialen Beziehungen im Ritual darstellen. Violeiros und cantadores tauschen in der Cantoria Worte aus, wobei Improvisation und Überraschung zentrale Elemente sind. Eine spezielle Variante, das Balaio, kann Konflikte hervorrufen, insbesondere bei Medienfestivals. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, anthropologische und linguistische Theorien zu verbinden und die Werte sowie Bedeutungen der Cantoria aus der Perspektive der Sänger zu erfassen. Die Studie wurde 2015 mit dem zweiten Platz des IPHAN-Wettbewerbs ausgezeichnet.
