The purpose of this book is to reassure people who are cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally within a normal range that they are not mentally ill. To them my message is, "relax, you're normal." This book was written for anyone who overthinks what it means to be a normal person, being anxious or depressed or angry or forgetful is not proof positive of a mental illness, The questions addressed in this book are: - What is normal?- What is diagnosis?- What is psychotherapy and is it effective?- Is altruism abnormal?- Can a normal, ordinary life be a good life

    • The purpose of this book is to make the case for the study of philosophy being as relevant to real life as is the study of psychology. Since I have written for philosophy students I offer a caveat to anyone who has encountered this book apart from an academic Unavoidably, writing for a specific audience reduces the value of a book for readers who are outside the intended audience. Still, I hope anyone who invests in reading the pages that follow will be influenced to believe that philosophy is indeed relevant to the pursuit of a rich and meaningful life.
