Kniha konfrontuje úvahy o díle Franze Kafky od třinácti autorek a autorů z šesti zemí a tří kontinentů. Kafkovo dílo je zde zkoumáno z perspektivy různých filozofických oborů: ontologie, epistemologie, filozofie jazyka, etiky, politické filozofie, filozofie literatury a estetiky. Formální a metodologická rozmanitost příspěvků je stejně bohatá: zahrnuje detailní interpretace vybraných Kafkových textů, analýzy charakteristických rysů rozpoznatelných napříč Kafkovým dílem, srovnání Kafky s jinými autory, diskuse s vlivnými kafkovskými interprety či úvahy o problému kafkovských adaptací. Texty jsou tematicky rozděleny do tří kapitol: Struktura světa a hranice poznání, Společenská realita a prostor morálního hodnocení a Fikční světy a způsoby vyprávění. Kniha je v angličtině. The book is conceived as an opportunity for thirteen authors from six countries and three continents to confront the lessons they draw from Kafka’s work. They approach it from the perspectives of several philosophical disciplines: ontology, epistemology, philosophy of language, ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of literature, and aesthetics. The formal and methodological variety of their contributions is equally rich: it includes detailed interpretations of particular texts, analyses of characteristic features recognizable across Kafka’s work, confrontations with other writers, disputes with influential Kafka interpreters, reopening the problem of Kafkian adaptations, etc. The articles are thematically divided into three chapters: The structure of the world and the limits of knowledge, Social reality and the space for moral assessment, and Fictional worlds and modes of narration.
