Heidi Hummer's Horrible Headache is the story of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird that spends the summer months in Pop's garden in Yorkville, Illinois. She was born in the garden, but travels to Mexico in October where she spends the winter months. One day has an accident while chasing another Hummingbird that was invading her territory and nearly breaks her neck. The story is told using the author's own photographs and experiences with Hummers, including photos of Heidi when she was a chick.
