Theodahad, an Ostrogothic king educated in philosophy rather than warfare, finds himself thrust into power as co-regent with his cousin, Queen Amalasuintha. His ambition leads him to conspire against her, but once he ascends to the throne, his inexperience and incompetence hinder his rule.
