The research highlights China's significant role in climate change, being the largest emitter of carbon dioxide, contributing 31% of global emissions in 2021. A strong correlation between CO2 emissions and the vehicle fleet was found, indicating that increases in one lead to increases in the other. Future projections suggest a rise in emissions from 13,471.3 megatons in 2024 to 15,419.7 megatons by 2030, jeopardizing global efforts to limit temperature increases to below 1.5 ºC.
