Excerpt from The Art of James McNeill WhistlerYears' study of Mr. Whistler's art, and the aim of the authors has been to point out the characteristics of his works, accepting them as they are, and not attempting to find in them qualities which they do not possess. It is their desire to lead others, to whom his art has hitherto been unfamiliar or incomprehensible, to a study which cannot fail to be a source of delight.
