Caring is a book about effective club or hospitality management. The author uses a series of essays and real-life stories from his 45+ year career in these businesses to support his assertions about What Matters Most in achieving sustained success as a club or hospitality manager, executive, owner or employee at any level of the organization. A common thread throughout the book is that the people make the biggest difference rather than facilities, equipment, or any of the other things that many club or resort owners, operators or investors delude themselves into devoting so much of their attention to. Caring is full of nuggets to help employees, managers, executives and owners be able to make better decisions, better judgment in how they run their operations, departments or how they conduct themselves. The overarching goal of this composition is to influence leaders at all levels of their organizations to care more for their people, ultimately leading to far greater financial success for their companies. Happy, enthusiastic, inspired employees serve the members and guests at a far higher level which leads to the customer becoming loyal to the brand, spending more and referring more. However, common sense is not always common practice.
