All About Doggie and Pussycat: How They Kept House and All Sorts of Other Things As Well (Czech: Povídání o pejskovi a kočičce: Jak spolu hospodařili a ještě o všelijakých jiných věcech) is a charming Czech children’s book about a dog and a cat who live together in a house and wish to do everything as people do. They bake a cake, wash their floor, go for a Sunday stroll, and write letters. However, since they are a dog and a cat and not people, things do not always go as they wish. The book, which is considered a classic of children’s literature in the Czech Republic, was written and illustrated by the Czech author Josef Čapek. * Povídání o pejskovi a kočičce – Jak spolu hospodařili a ještě o všelijakých jiných věcech. Veselá vyprávění o dvou nerozlučných kamarádech, která potěšila již několik generací čtenářů. This new book about us is named How They Were Making a Cake, because once we really made such a big cake since as it happened we both had a name day and a birthday at the same time. However, it was also for the last time, because we found out that we should not overdo even a good thing; but we can't reveal more because then you would easily guess how all of this ended. So have a good read and perhaps don't show our recipe for a real proper cake to your mum. Ask her instead to make you a cake for your name day or birthday from her own head, or from a cookery book. Un divertito, spiritoso, manuale di giardinaggio. Al centro delle vicende di fiori, piante e alberelli, in un universo di microperipezie, il personaggio del giardiniere. Nel 1925 Karel Čapek, emblematico protagonista del novecento letterario praghese, comprò, assieme al fratello, una casa di periferia con un ampio giardino. Fin allora aveva tenuto un suo diario pubblico, molto popolare, sul quotidiano della borghesia intellettuale di Praga. Da quel momento in poi, quell’elzeviro divenne il suo diario pubblico di giardinaggio. L’aveva sfiorato, poi coinvolto, infine rapito, la passione del giardino.
