È un libro con cui ho avuto un primo impatto da odi et amo. Lo stile narrativo è scorrevole ma al tempo stesso confusionario, soprattutto agli inizi, a causa di salti temporali repentini e inattesi. Ma... C'è un grande ma: il personaggio di A.J. riesce pian piano a fare breccia nel cuore dei lettori. È un uomo giovane ma invecchiato e abbrutito dal dolore e dal senso di colpa. L'arrivo della piccola Maya è il punto di svolta, un vero e proprio ritorno alla vita, ai sentimenti e all'amore per la lettura. Si rivelerà un uomo dall'animo gentile, dispensatore di saggezza, difficile da dimenticare. Per citare le sue parole: "Per tutto il tempo che passiamo qui, sulla Terra, siamo solo amore. Le cose che abbiamo amato. Le persone che abbiamo amato.
