Not many people are born to an identity. However, Mike Screech, after finding himself drawn to scouting from a young age, then went on to join the Royal Navy. There he found a challenging career that he always felt he could never leave despite the waves of negativity he encountered. Follow Mike on his journey from HMS Raleigh to civvy street and then back to the Navy via Ireland, Singapore and a small part in the background of a BBC show. Life as a steward wasn’t all cocktail parties and dinners, although there were still plenty to be found.
