Renderings of Encouragement & Inspirations is a collection of stories, poetry, and insights reflecting various stages of my life. It is divided into four segments. The first segment, "Life's experiences," shares true stories about the death of my child, my upbringing, accepting Jesus, overcoming smoking, facing macular degeneration, battling breast cancer, undergoing heart surgery, and my journey to becoming a Minister. The second segment, "Through Prose," features poems I have written throughout my life. "Articles of Inspiration" includes short stories and articles primarily penned during my time as editor of our church newsletters. The final segment, "Words from the Lord," offers messages of inspiration and encouragement. I am Serena Johnson, the daughter of Alfred and Mary Lillian Haddad, and the middle child among my siblings, Jude and Michael. I am the wife of my beloved partner, Don, and together we have three wonderful children: Shawn, Jodi, and Cindy, as well as three grandchildren: Cassidy, Kyran, and Mackenzie. Growing up in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, I worked in my parents' variety stores, later becoming a long-distance telephone operator, bank employee, and secretary. At 64, I embraced my role as a Non-Denominational Minister. Don and I split our time between Troy, NY, and Largo, Florida, where I continue to enjoy writing and praying with others.
