Great Expectations is one of Dickers s most forcefully moral yet movingly hurnar novels. The development Of Philip ('Pip') Pirrip's character after he learns of ' great expectations ' of wealth from a mysterious source shows that pride comes before a fall. He changed his original ending on Bulwer-Lytton's advice; the rejected ending is offered in an appendix to this edition.
